Alisa Thavikulwat, M.D.
Dr. Alisa Thavikulwat studied at the University of Rochester, where she completed her bachelor’s and medical degrees in the Rochester Early Medical Scholars’ combined BA/MD program. As an undergraduate, she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. During medical school, she completed the global health pathway and was selected to participate in the Medical Research Scholars Program at the National Institutes of Health. There, she spent a year at the National Eye Institute conducting research in age-related macular degeneration. Dr. Thavikulwat went on to complete her residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she received the Norman Blair Resident Research Award, followed by medical retina fellowship back at the National Eye Institute. Dr. Thavikulwat is a published author in prestigious journals, such as Ophthalmology, Retina, American Journal of Ophthalmology, and JAMA Ophthalmology. She has presented her research at many conferences and is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
